A Six Year Old’s Definition of Grateful

JD

Last night as my six-year-old son Jack and I were in the car driving to a friend’s house. As we were motoring down the road, Jack said, “Hey, Dad. I know the name of the website you’re always working on.”

“Oh yea? What is it?”

“Everyday Grateful,” he said.

“Yup! You’re right! How did you know?”

“I just know, Dad. I just know.”

Smiling, I say, “Hey, Buddy, do you know what grateful means?”

He says, “Yea.”

Pauses a brief second and says,

“Hope and love and stuff… And Joy.”

Question: What is your definition of grateful?

  • Peggy

Ahhhh, from the mouths of babes.
As far as what my definition of grateful is, that’s hard to pin down. It’s good to remember to appreciate what’s around us. Who’s around us.  But, the heading on your blog, “Turning what we have into enough”, I love that.

    Thanks, Peggy!

The “Turning what we have into enough” comes partly from Brene Brown’s new book, Darring Grately.

If you haven’t read it yet, I highly recommend it!
