Remember when we used to play?
Remember when we used to count down the minutes to recess, so we could sprint to our favorite slide and start a game of tag?
Remember how fast we used to run to start that game of dodgeball? Or grab that basketball and start shooting hoops?
Whatever happened to that?
Somewhere along the way I think we lost our desire to play.
Maybe it was because our schedules got filled with responsibilities. Maybe it’s because our to-do lists became filled with “more important” things than fun activities.
Either way. It’s never too late to start again.
In fact, maybe you can start right now.
Go do something fun.
Grab a co-worker, a spouse, or a friend and take a walk.
Jump in the car and find the nearest swirly slide.
Buy some Dilly Bars for the office and surprise your team with a five-minute ice cream break.
Teach yourself a card trick and show it to everyone you see.
Find a fountain to stick your feet in. With or without your shoes on, it makes no difference.
It doesn’t matter what you do. The only requirement is that it puts a smile on your face.
What are you waiting for? Grab whimsy by the hand and see what happens!
What to you do when you want to play?
